Pastor Poker Denies Gambling Problem
A pastor suspected of stealing at least $60,000 from his parishioners told Scottsdale police that he "occasionally gambled," but he denied that it was the cause of his deep financial troubles.
Patrick Shetler told police that gambling "isn't a problem," according to a recently released police report.
Instead, bankrupt and depressed, Shetler blamed his financial collapse on medical bills, child support and counseling.
The bulk of the 42-page report is church bank statements and "check registers which the suspect altered to cover up his thefts," the report said.
