The Plaza Ups Football Sports Book

(AP) - NFL fans spending time in Las Vegas always can place a bet on their favourite team for that week's game. Now, the Plaza Hotel is offering something more long-range.

Beginning this season, gamblers can place wagers on any game in the schedule. The hotel, along with Las Vegas Club, is establishing a point spread for each game in the league's 17-week schedule.

Whatever point spread the bettor gets when the wager is placed will stick, no matter how a team performs throughout the season and regardless of the injury situation.

"It is unique, uncharted waters," says Lou D'Amico, director of race and sports betting for Barrick Gaming. "We do a lot of looks at future book wagers for horse racing, especially the Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup. So it must be something attractive to sports bettors.
