Wayne's World

Mr. Las Vegas did two things before leaving on a Mediterranean vacation this past week.

First, Wayne Newton traveled to New York City in support of the Republican National Convention. Then he called Peterborough This Week from The Big Apple to promote his upcoming show at the Memorial Centre.

"Peterborough will be the first show we actually play when we come back from vacation, which we're excited about," said the longtime entertainer and singer.

The Memorial Centre might not be in the same league as the Stardust Resort and Casino, where Mr. Newton performs his regular gigs, but ticket holders can expect to experience a bit of Vegas during his Peterborough show Sept. 15.

"It's not a theatre venue per se; it's more of a nightclub," say Mr Newton in reference to his road show.

"We can do exactly the same kind of show that we can do in Las Vegas without a lot of the production value."
