Gambling Debt Collection Leads to Nail Salon Frenzy
A dispute over an alleged gambling debt at a West Warwick nail salon led to the arrest of three Massachusetts men this week after they reportedly assaulted the owner of the business.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, three men arrived at Nail Tech at 289 Cowesett Ave., according to West Warwick Police Maj. Paul Villa. He said yesterday the men came to the business looking for owner Tommy Nguyen with the intention of settling an alleged gambling debt.
A verbal dispute began in the parking lot in front of Nail Tech, Villa said, eventually leading to two of the individuals assaulting Nguyen.
Villa said he was able to get away to another business, where he called the police.
While Nguyen was contacting authorities, the three men fled the scene in a vehicle. Villa said a witness got the license plate and the three men were stopped by Massachusetts State Police after crossing the state line.
