Harrah's Goes All In On A Rib Eating Contest
ome of the world’s finest eaters will converge at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel in Cherokee at 1 p.m. on July 8 for the first annual Harrah’s Cherokee Rib Eating Championship.
This title, respected for its elusiveness as much as the impending fame due its possessor, will be accompanied by a hefty $5,000 in prize money. Prize money will be broken down as follows: $2,000 for first place; $1,500 for second place; $1,000 for third place; $500 for fourth place.
The rib-eating record that will be set will join elite marks such as Sonya Thomas’ 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes, Eric “Badlands” Booker’s 48 donuts in eight minutes, and Don “Moses” Lerman’s legendary mark of six pounds of baked beans in one minute and 48 seconds.
