E. Parry Thomas, Icon
E. Parry Thomas passed today at the age of 95.
Mr. Thomas was one of the true icons of Las Vegas history, financing and facilitating the hopes and dreams of generations of casino developers. He is the Thomas in the Thomas and Mack.
As if that weren't enough, E. Parry Thomas is also the father of Wynn Resorts' über designer Roger Thomas.
Within the span of a week, Roger unveiled a masterwork six years in the making - Wynn Palace Cotai - and lost his father.
VegasTripping extends its deepest condolences to the Thomas family.

Comments & Discussion:
This comes of the heels of the passing of Joel Bergman, who was Steve Wynn's in-house architect from 1978-1994, most notably designing Mirage and Treasure Island for Wynn before starting up his own firm (Bergman, Walls & Associates) which designed Paris, Signature and Trump International among other projects.
RIP Parry. I believe he also aided Bill Bennett in getting the loan for Circus Circus. That guy had a lot of impact on Vegas.
Without Parry Steve Wynn wouldn't be in Vegas.
Read "The Quiet Kingmaker", without him probably 75% of the non-corporate folks wouldn't have gotten started.
The man might be the single most influential person in securing funding to transform the strip from low-rise motels to the mid/high-rise integrated resorts in the 70's and 80's. Nobody would fund large scale development until EPT. He not only provided bank funding, but bridged it into complex funding schemes to get the bigger stuff off the ground when his bank couldn't write the whole check.
The man had vision, and created the playground we all enjoy.
RIP. Wish I had the opportunity to thank you for the days and memories you've helped create in my life.
