MGM Paid Parking: Tourists Pay, Employees and M Life Noir Free

Paid parking is imminent. Sources told us previously that the deadline for implementing paid parking at MGM properties was May 31, 2016. Based on the quick work MGM is making to install lighting, pay station kiosk and ticket machine lanes, it appears that this date is probably going to stick.

We've received tons of reports of equipment being installed, here's a few:

Luxor Paid Parking

Concrete lanes berms have been installed at Luxor.

MGM Grand Paid Parking

Parking available lighting has been installed on floors 3 and up of the MGM Grand parking garage.

MGM Grand Paid Parking

Ticket machines have been installed at MGM Grand.

Pay stations have been installed at various properties.

Sources are telling VT that paid parking will be initially enforced for tourists only. MGM seeks to soften the backlash from locals by giving them a "grace period" before they will join tourists and be charged for self parking.

Additionally, Noir card holders and MGM employees are exempt from paying for parking.

Other than me, how many of the dozens of M Life Noir card holders is going to self-park? Also, M Life Noir cards don't have magnetic strips... (see) how will they be scanned?

Comments & Discussion:

It is not just Noir Cards. It starts at gold, which poker players have already received. Another thing valet was told was self parking would be free for locals but not valet!!! We have also heard the paid parking might be in phases now? The north valet bellagio booth needs to be ripped out and re-built and the work has not even started yet. Also they are still having connection problems with the wifi. So who knows, some folks at mgm have told me mid june ???

Self-parking free for Pearl and up, valet free for Gold and up. They have been communicating this to poker players, who will be grandfathered in at pearl if they have 75 hours in the previous year. This was their way of appeasing poker playing locals.

I suspect that Noirs and Locals will have to get their parking tickets validated in person at a booth (or similar) so the lack of a machine readable card is not an issue.

How about resort guests? Parking in addition to resort fee?

Hearing self park will be 10 dollars and valet will be 17 dollars. (Wisely an uneven number so that people have spare change to tip)

It had better be Gold and up. No way I will be getting Noir in the near future and as a Gold, will be Platinum within the 1st two days of my next trip this year, if I have to pay for parking this will be the last time I ever stay at an MGM property.

I'm done with MGM. IF CET follows suit I will go Off Strip or DT.

That's actually not a real Mlife Noir card. First off, notice how it lists Circus Circus Las Vegas but not Goldstrike, Beau Rivage or MGM Detroit. There is a MGM Resorts Chairmans club however. while some of these cards are given out to top level noir players ( there are a few perks of it beyond and you are mostly in the world concierge services). The vast majority of them are issued mostly to Las Vegas locals. It's a rather small group, most of which are good friends or business colleagues of an MGM executive . My dad obtained one in this way. Actual M life nor cards do have a stripe
