Update: $30 To Park at Westgate

We heard rumblings yesterday, but now we've got pictorial evidence - Westgate Las Vegas is charging $30 to park in their lots and parking garages. HOLY SHIRT!

The @LVSportsbook Twitter account is saying that the property is charging for parking during large conventions, but "validation" is available at the betting window when you place a bet.

Big thanks to @Mitzula for the pics!

Wow! $30 bucks - do we think hotel guests are excluded? Bypass it by placing a $1 parlay bet at the book for validation?

Surprised they started so high. I guess they figured that is their longer term pricing target, and better to just start that way instead of "the bastards are raising parking prices every six months!" type comments? Maybe since the average conventioneer will expense it, then the cost isn't that important?

I think Vegas wants to become the Atlantic City of the desert.
Next they should ban drinking on The Strip and enact blue laws.

Is it possible this is just a Superbowl thing? That sign looks far from permanent.

Rates like this are common at Horseshoe Cleveland. They share a connected garage to Cav's arena. A simple card swipe at the end of a min. 30 minute gambling session gets you free parking. I will be fine with the casino's using a similar policy. This way the attendees of the events are paying for the garage, not the casino patrons. As a frequent Vegas tripper and a car renter I can say that I will stay at Red Rock or a similar locals place if the strip hotels start charging me to gamble!

This happens only during conventions and other peak periods. I take the monorail into work everyday. I park and then ride. This is only temporary. In a weeks time you will see the gates lifted.

The World of Concrete convention is going on and it's a pretty good sized one - pretty sure that's why the fee.
