Comments & Discussion:

Another great episode. I respectfully disagree with the characterization of hours of sports watching as "bread and salad." There are some great things about spending a college football Saturday or NFL Sunday at a Vegas sports book or bar:

-- You can watch multiple games at once, which most of us can't easily do at home;
-- You can (at a lot of places) play video poker during timeouts, halftime, and other "intersession" times (televised football has a lot of downtime!);
-- You can therefore drink for free or relatively inexpensively; and
-- There's an energy in Vegas among sports-watching crowds that you don't get at home or even at most non-Vegas sports bars. People have $$$ on the line, and so the exciting plays are *really* exciting, with lots of people alternately cheering or wailing.

Great outro music today, too. The Sirius/XM channel "Radio Margaritaville" plays a lot of Jimmy Buffett music, as you might expect -- but it's not 100% exclusive the way the Elvis XM channel is, for example. They play other "island" music, reggae, music from performers that have recorded with or played with JB in the past, etc.

But for two one-hour sessions each and every day, they do go 100% Jimmy, and play nothing else.

What do they call those one-hour blocks? Why, the "Buffett Buffet," naturally.

Mike E captured some of the essence of pre-planning as it relates to my experience. The first 4 hours are scripted and executed as planned but then there is a "go with the flow or the moment" mentality. When staying on the strip, I usually like to start my first hour or so with a cocktail at Petrossian. Sitting there enjoying the moment knowing that the town is there for me whenever I want it. So there I am, sitting in the comfort of the space, enjoying a vodka with incredible stuffed olives; maybe striking up a conversation with the bartender or a fellow visitor sitting on the stool next to me. Then, before you know it, I am drinking God knows what with God knows who.
Another great show. Of course, Misnomer had me laughing out loud again followed by residual church giggles.
