Vegas Sneaks: Two Shoe Review

Nearly as much as I love Las Vegas, I love sneakers. In fact, my passion for kicks has gotten so out of hand, if you were to ask me how many pairs of shoes I have, the answer would be roughly equal to how many times I've visited Vegas: A whole dang bunch. Recently, through the magic of eBay, I acquired a couple of pairs that combine my interests. Here, I share them, in a format that doesn't smell like a gym locker or Circus Circus.

First up, the Feature x Saucony G9 Shadow 6 in the "Barney" colorway. These shoes are a collaboration between Las Vegas-based clothing and sneaker boutique Feature and Saucony, which specializes in running shoes.

These shoes came out in late 2014 as part of a "High Roller" pack. Each of the three pairs released features a different denomination of casino chip embroidered on the shoe's tongue - $100, $500, and $1000 - and the rest of the shoe draws on the chip's colors for its styling.

The Pumpkin version is pretty groovy, but I picked up the sweet Five Hundy model as an homage to our pals and fellow mafiosi. Totally wearing these to the FiveHundog Eating Contest.

Next up, the Air Jordan 1 Retro Road to the Gold "Vegas". These shoes were part of a pack commemorating the 2012 World Basketball Festival. Las Vegas was among the cities that hosted the U.S. Men's National Team as they prepared to compete in Barcelona.

The inner liner of these shoes is intended to be reminiscent of casino carpeting, a nice touch that I wish they'd taken a little further. Something like Cosmo's old carpeting would've been cool.

It's been fun collecting these shoes, which combine two of my favorite things. It's my dream that more mashups of things I love happen in the future. Things like a Dodge Challenger with a heads-up display that plays early nineties Jenna Jameson movies on a loop, and Van Halen-themed beef jerky. Because in the end, on dreams we will depend. That's what love is made of.

Comments & Discussion:

I love the first one. I'll take a banana chip in a 13.

Those are some seriously ugly shoes.
