King Diamond and Exodus at HOB 11/9/2015

Legendary Danish meistersinger and epic conjurer of The Satan, the one and only King Diamond will be performing his epic masterpiece Abigail in its entirety from front to back, sideways and in between.

Abigail was King Diamond's first truly conceptual album, one which told the familiar yet still frightening story of a family moving into a house that was haunted by family ghosts, still born children and demonic possessors. The musicianship is top notch throughout with stellar guitar work by Andy LaRoque and Michael Denner and mind melting drumming by Mikkey Dee (who now plays in Motorhead.)

I loved this album so much I had an airbrush artist paint the cover on the back of my Levi jacket in 1987. Unfortunately, no photos survived my teenage tumult.

Adding legendary Bay Area thrash metal titans Exodus to the bill and you've got the makings of a truly incredible night of metallic mayhem at Mandalay Bay.

Exodus is the 5th member of the "Big Four" that includes Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Unfortunately a rotating singer slot and battles with booze and brotherhood kept Exodus from achieving the success they deserved. Exodus' mastermind Gary Holt (one of the greatest metal riff writers ever - bar none) has been doing double duty as Slayer's stunt guitarist since founding member Jeff Hanneman passed away in 2013.

How the hell did they make a blast beat so goddamn funky and multi-layered? That would be the rhythmic genius of Gary Holt. If you're in Vegas and you love metal, you don't want to miss this show.
