Murren: "Mirage is not on the market."

Moments ago, MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren said on the quarterly earnings call.

Mirage is not on the market. We don't put a for sale sign out. The last thing we would do is put a for sale sign on any of our properties. The virtue of not selling on the strip has been clearly vindicated by the growh of the assets over time.

Rumor squashed.

I saw those news reports too. I tend to not get my news from those sources.

Dick punch.

To be clear the Mirage is not being actively marketed at all.

Epic truth!

Those quotes don't seem to specifically say they're not selling Mirage, only that they're not actively shopping it.

alexanbo - he was pretty clear. it isn't being sold, they aren't actively selling it. they have a fiduciary duty as officers of the company to explore all serious offers.

Glad to finally hear some response from MGM on this issue.

I like the Mirage and would be bummed if MGM sold.

I like Mirage, too. I just got an offer yesterday I might use later on this year.

On a quarterly financial call, you need to be super clear with your wordings. Assuming Chuckmonster typed out the quotes right, there is zero chance Mirage is sold in the near future. That was way too clear of a statement to be a CEO dodging on-going negotiations answer.

Glad to hear it! Great location and a Great property!

I'm a little flabbergasted by the community response, but I feel the only way that property will ever stop being a stack of hotel rooms and a casino with poor conditions below is if it ever stops being a lower rung of a chain. It's turning into "the nicer Luxor" in terms of being aging facilities run by disinterested management who only want to make money and don't want to spend it.

Same is true with Mandalay Bay.

MinVegas -
I can't get behind the assertion that Mirage as the lower rung of a chain or "a nicer Luxor?" When the current reimagining is complete I see Mirage as being two boffo restaurants away from being a cheaper Aria.
