Mailbag: Resort Fee At Main Street Station?
VT reader D.H emailed us yesterday about a mystery charge that appeared on his credit card after staying at Main Street Station. He says:
Main Street Station levied a surprise charge of $9.99 to my credit card 2 days after I checked out. I assume that this is a resort fee. If so, that should probably be updated on this site.
D.H.,
Main Street Station does not charge a resort fee, confirmed moments ago on their website and by calling the hotel.
Resort fees are almost always collected by hotels when you check in or occasionally at check out... they are never tacked on to a closed hotel receipt at a later date. It is possible that the $9.99 fee at Main Street Station might be for any hotel services you may have purchased - wifi or mini bar charges.
It is also possible that they goofed and accidentally charged you a resort fee. Boyd Gaming (owners of Main Street Station) does charge resort fees for three of their Las Vegas properties that are adjacent to The Strip - Sam's Town, Orleans and Gold Coast. These three properties charge a $9.99 resort fee per day.
When in doubt about your hotel charges, contact the hotel first, then call us, then call your credit card company.
