Roger Daltrey Hints At Possible Who Residency

Earlier today, as part of a larger announcement of a massive tour by The Who in 2015, lead singer Roger Daltrey stated that this would be the band's last large scale tour of the world, citing the rigors of road and their advancing age as reasons.

This is not the end of The Who, however, Daltrey tells Rolling Stone.

Maybe that means sitting down in a theater for a couple of weeks," he says. "That means you travel to once place, but you're stationed there. You aren't touring. It's the touring, the schlepping, that kills you. The music is a joy. The two hours on stage every night is a joy, even though it's incredibly strenuous. The schlepping and changing hotels every day, that can become incredibly hard work."

The Who has had a long, lovely and dangerous relationship with Las Vegas. The band chose MGM Grand to stage their first reunion performance since their 1985 break up. Future Vegas gigs saw the band bringing back songs long vanished from set lists. Vegas also brought the band one of its largest losses, the death of bassist John 'The Ox' Entwistle, in his room at the Hard Rock the night before their 2002 tour kick off concert.

With such history - good and bad - it makes perfect sense for The Who to start the "residency" portion of their storied career in a city that has already meant so much to the band - Las Vegas.

The obvious front runner? The Joint at the Hard Rock. But wouldn't it be incredible to see a gigantic Colosseum style stage show production of all those incredible Pete Townsend stories?!?!

I would love for this to happen

I always forget whether each tour is a farewell tour or a reunion tour.

Saw The Who during their 25th anniversary tour at Busch Stadium in St Louis..remains the best live show I've ever seen...this would be a must see...

Hey I was at that show. The joint rocked for the Who

That could be quite interesting. I'm wonderign if they might choose The Pearl over at The Palm, or maybe the Cosmo's room though.

It could be a bidding war. The new venue at Cosmo does need an ongoing act but not sure of the Who fit the demographic they look for.

The Donny and Marie Showroom?
