Sands Expo Buys A Vowel

The Sands Expo center - the gigantic convention area which powers occupancy (and all business decisions) at the Venetian and Palazzo has unzipped their purse strings and bought a vowel.

An "E" to be exact, and stuck it onto their wall.

Why? They're trying to convince all the kids clubbing at Wynn/Encore where the drugs are - a shoe salesman convention! Oh yeah, they don't call it E anymore.

In all seriousness, it appears that Las Vegas Sands Corp. has finally shelved their 2008 proposal to move the Sands Expo Center down the street and build the 4th Venetian complex hotel tower on top of the freshly vacated spot. It isn't like the old signage sucked or was deficient in anyway... just the opposite - it was/is an attention getting time warp into the 1970s and one of the last left on the Strip this side of Encore. I'll bet the "SANDS" stays while the lettering goes.

Big thanks to VT reader Adam for the photo tip.
