Vamp'd: Where Rock, Metal and Vegas Meet To Mosh

We're super proud to have this great guest post from one of my favorite new friends, local Las Vegan and thrashingly dedicated rock fan MsKellyG. Enjoy! \m/ -c

Hey there head banging rock fans, despite the omnipresent DJ billboards Vegas loves you too, you'll just have to venture a little bit off The Strip to satisfy your rock and roll soul!

My favorite haunt is Count's Vamp'd Rock Bar and Grill located at 6750 W Sahara Ave (east of Rainbow), just 6.5 miles from Bellagio. It's not on the Strip, yet not too far away that you shouldn't make it a point to get there. A short cab ride (about $30 including tip) will leave the high notes of Celine Dion in the Las Vegas dust and have you headbanging to denim and leather before you know it. If you did happen to rent a car or drive into town, parking at Vamp'd is always free.

Vamp'd is owned by Danny "Count" Koker of History Channel's Counting Cars fame and on any given night you are likely to find him hanging out or even taking the stage with kick-ass house band Count's 77. They never put on a bad show!

As glittering skulls and custom choppers greet me just inside the door the door, I know I'm in the right place. My metal home away from the mental home offers a killer stage and a room that's big, but not impersonal. Intimate but not small. It's perfect really. The sound system's intensity announces itself before even rounding the corner into view of the stage. You wanna feel Billy Sheehan's wall of bass coursing through your veins? This is why I'm always coming back for more.

Booths and high top tables are scattered throughout, but me and the diehards can be found at the front of the stage. Depending on the night, tables can be reserved directly from the website too. I've taken advantage of this before and itʼs a great option if you want to walk in like a VIP. Throw in a full bar with tons of seating and an outdoor patio for smoke breaks and there's not a better place to be in Vegas!

Vamp'd has an impressive tribute band lineup ranging from Def Leppard tribute Pyromania to Tom Petty act You Got Lucky and everything in between. My personal favorite are the Sin City Sinners.

Ex-Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young performs Iron Maiden's Number of The Beast with Sin City Sinners at Vamp'd

These guys are fronted by ex-Faster Pussycat guitarist Brent Muscat and they offer up a mix of 80's rock/metal as well as original material. No matter what day of the week they are playing, if the Sinners are there, it's a party. I've rocked out with them as they were joined by DJ Ashba (Guns and Roses, Sixx:AM), Sebastian Bach, Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Hell Yeah) and even Ron Jeremy! You just never know who's gonna drop by to sit in. They're always turned up to 11 and are not to be missed! You can thank me later, just send a Captain and Coke my way.

Another thing I F'n LOVE about this place are the national acts that they bring in. I once spent an amazing New Years weekend here partying with Steven Adler when he was touring with his band Adler's Appetite. Never in my life did I think I'd be in such close quarters with an original member of GNR! Not only did they kill it, but the crowd was amazing. The fans that Vamp'd attracts are always ready for a good time. It's a rock and roll community and this is Town Hall.

In the coming weeks I'll be taking in Saxon/Fozzy, The Winery Dogs, Jackyl and the Eddie Trunk hosted Black Sabbath after party with, of course, The Sin City Sinners. Wonder if Ozzy will stop by?! It's like hitting the jackpot to be able to see acts like these up close and personal.

Cover for the local bands, including the Sinners, is generally free and national acts usually run between $15 and $20. Tickets can be purchased on the Vamp'd website or at the door, although personally I wouldn't risk waiting to buy tickets if you know for sure you'll be there. The place isn't that big and you don't want to be left out in the Vegas heat without a ticket! Most shows start around 10:00.

Vamp'd also offers a full menu of appetizers ($3-12), salads, wraps, sandwiches, full entrees, and pizza ($9-$15). Now that you're off the Strip and rockin' in the free world, drinks won't cost you half as much as any given circle bar, and your cocktail servers and bartenders are video vixen hot!

Vamp'd opens at Daily 11 AM, Most shows start around 10:00. You'll find me here Wednesday through Sunday, but check the schedule because Mondays and Tuesdays can offer some surprises as well.

Comments & Discussion:

Sunday VIMFP weekend - Diamond Head + Raven for only $8. A night of classic proto thrash for less than a bottle of water at Wynn. I'm sold.

Saxon & Fozzy???? I'm in!

Their website plays Moby Dick as soon as you open which is nice

A must for me everytime I make the long haul to sin city. Vamp'd rocks ! See you all in labor day weekend !

awesome, something new to check out.

Been on my list to make it over there for sometime, glad to see some notoriety for the place.
