VT superfriend PokerVixen has put together a bitchin' guide to folks thinking about making investments in players making a run at the bracelets in the 2013 World Series of Poker. Skin In The Game - Poker Staking from the Investor's Perspective

The buying stakes in other players has been around as long as the gambling problem, and the rags to riches story of victory always features a generous benefactor smiling at the rail surrounded by arm candy.

Nowadays, players aren't desperate to get the buy in, they're trying to cover their potential losses while chiseling out as much of the upside for themselves as possible.

These are murky waters, particularly if you are an idiot like yours truly. Fortunately, we've got an incredibly smart array of friends to help it down.

Go! Skin In The Game - Poker Staking from the Investor's Perspective.

Comments & Discussion:

This is a good read and quality advice, especially on the markup. Many players win a $300 local tourney and think they can charge markup for a $5k buy in. Especially for the big WSOP tournaments where the fields are so massive and even good players need some luck to advance. Trading penny stocks or simply taking the money yourself to roulette is a better play.
