The Hard Rock is killing it (again) with another incredible booking. The brothers Marley, sons of Bob - Stephen and Damian 'Jr. Gong' - will be performing poolside at the Hard Rock on June 28th.

It ain't easy being a musician. It's even harder being the musical child of an interstellar musical icon... there aren't many of those. Rarely, if ever, does the musical progeny strike gold and develop a career strong enough to stand on its own merits. For every hundred Dweezil Zappas, Ziggy Marleys and Julian Lennons, a C.P.E. Bach (son of J.S.) or Norah Jones (daughter of Ravi Shankar) ascends to the pantheon also occupied by their parents.

Possibly testifying to his greatness, Bob Marley has given the world two incredibly talented sons - Damian 'Jr. Gong' and Stephen - the 9 known children sired with seven different women, there are two Marley progeny - sorry Ziggy - who have created incredible catalogues of uniquely exciting music.

Yeah, you know this. Everybody and their brother blasted Jr. Gong's Welcome to Jamrock (based on the Sly and Robbie produced 80's dub classic World a Reggae by Ini Kamoze) sending the track to the top of the charts and winning Damian and his brother Stephen (who produced the album) two Grammy Awards.

End to end, "Welcome To Jamrock" is full of killer grooves, Damian's machine gun dancehall gangster toasting, incredibly creative orchestration and Stephen's flawless production chock full of yummy layers of gurgling classic dub mixing techniques. Instant classic that still cranks nearly 10 years later.

A year or so later, brother Stephen released the criminally underrated Mind Control, continuing the Marley 2.0 tradition with a disc that takes the grooviest, dubbiest parts of Jamrock and clarifies it into funky dub pop. This is exactly what I imagine Bob would be doing if he were still alive.

This will be an incredible show at the perfect location - poolside at the Hard Rock as dusk transforms itself into a sky filled with diamonds - removed enough from the insanity of The Strip for the buzz to lift you towards the cosmos while still retaining all of the excitement.
