Step aside Linq, MGM's new stadium project built in parking lot between New York New York and Monte Carlo will be called:

the park

No, I'm not joking.

the park at new york new york

We can confirm that the park will occupy Rue de Monte Carlo, including the CityCenter sales office and the entire parking lot behind and between New York New York and Monte Carlo.

Here's our spitball diagram from the original post:

A formal announcement including lots of fanfare, balloons and a speech by Jim Murren extolling the many virtues of parks - pocket and otherwise - will take place sometime next week.

Dude.... the park!!!!!!

We will have more on this as it develops.

Comments & Discussion:

I know no company wants to be behind the other, but might it have been a good idea to see if the Linq even attracts people before building one MGM?

the park...zzzzz.

I have a feeling we're on the leading edge of the Caruso-ing of all the vacant space on the Strip thanks to Linq. Because Vegas needs more outdoor shopping arcades.

I hope a large part of this IS a park. Otherwise, it's the latest in a long line of giving developments organic names like Riverbend Oaks, Pinetree Meadows or Foothill Vistas that represent what WAS there before the construction.

(Of course, since they're developing a *PARK*ing lot, I guess my rant is too late.)

Still, a good stadium complex could use some quality green space around it, as well as the requisite bars, shops and team merchandise headquarters.

That's going to play hell with the NYNY employee parking and shipping/receiving area already back there.

project park makes my linq hard

Will the new venue replace either the Grand Garden Arena or Mandalay Events Center?

Or will it be a third more modern option?

Someone sell that company a shift key

Chuck, awesome job on this, the Monte Carlo frontage story, and the Aria marquee. That's a really impressive trifecta of scoops on MGM.

I'm personally excited to see Monte Carlo get a reboot. I think it's been "meh" since the day it opened its doors.

I'm not sure building another stadium/events center makes sense unless MGM really is going to sell Mandalay Bay.

@TC this is a third more modern option

@andy Thanks!

Pocket parks at CC were very successful, this only makes sense.

Wouldn't the Parq sound better?
