Peekaboo: Hakkasan At MGM Grand Renderings

MGM Grand Lion 2013

For those who just can't get over the sting of losing the Imperial Palace's blue hued pagoda stylings, worry you not.... Hakkasan, the forthcoming Pan Asian supper club at MGM Grand has got you modernized covered and smothered.

Designer / architect Gilles & Boissier has posted six renderings on their website. For discussion purposes, and for those who lack the flash plug in, we've posted enlarged versions of three of them below.

The entrance. Grand. Mysterious.

Hakkasan Entry

Beyond a very sexy host vestibule featuring a white marble stand surrounded by backlit Asian-inspired lattice work is this angular bedecked hallway. Exciting. Oh, what mystery awaits.

And alas some lounge space. More lattice. Eeek.

Hakkasan Entry

Yeah... just like the Imperial Palace. Modernized. Blue. Cheepness that looks great in the dark. Let us all hope it feels better in person but as for the renderings... the lounge area leaves me wanting.

The good news is that MGM Grand will still have good bones and a fresh location to rent out once Hakkasan goes belly up. Does anybody know how much MGM Grand ponied up for this construction project?

MGM Grand Hakkasan Construction Status

Big huge thanks to the Original Vegas Internet Ferret Mac78130 for the rendering tip.

Comments & Discussion:

I'm in agreement, happy about development, little interest in Hakkasan as a whole, more interested in how it's used once Hakkasan is pushed out by MGM as they can't pay the ginormous rent MGM charges.

Awful. Mac78130 is the greatest.

Thanks Detroit! :)

Color me not very impressed.

They're not REALLY changing the whole front facade to be an ad for the restaurant are they?

Yeah, just like adding Diablo's ruined Monte Carlo, Gilley's ruin TI, Jimmy Buffet's place at Flamingo. LAME

If that woman in the blue dress was in there I don't think I'd hesitate to leave every dollar I had on hand with her....errr...in there.

I could do without the old dude in the grey coat though.

This signage facing LV/Trop reminds me of DeRuyter Butler mentioning that himself and Steve Wynn turned turned Wynn Las Vegas and Encore southward because south was the clientele "we were looking to attract."

I thought there was suppose to be outdoor spaces, windows, or patios. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Gilles & Boissier took down the renderings, boo!
