Yesterday afternoon, Cosmopolitan sent around a press release announcing that one of their Wheel of Fortune progressive machines hit to the tune of a $1.3million smackeroos... approximately $677,000 cash value after taxes.

People gamble at the Cosmopolitan?

Comments & Discussion:

I took the Cosmo for about $700 over the course of my trip back in October. Unfortunately, most og that money ended up in the coffers of Caesars Entertainment....

I hit a royal (quarter double bonus) at Book and Stage while wearing my FiveHundy t-shirt in August. I have good luck at Cosmo with VP but not so much with Craps and there is rarely a ten dollar min at the craps tables.

It must have been the shirt.

Taxes blow.

50% tax rate? I though the Feds only took about 33%? Does Nevada have a huge windfall tax bite as well?

Still shocks me that US residents are taxed on money you win on gambling, lottery etc.

I really look forward to the day I hit it big and have to pull out the UK passport and tell them to "pay it gross, motherf*****!"
