Video: Van Halen at MGM Grand May 27 2012

The reviews are in, Van Halen's show at MGM was purportedly one of the best of the tour so far. Diamond Dave was his usual goofy self, shooting off Vegas related jokes and pantomiming being geriatric while singing LMFAO's tagline "Every day I'm shuff'l'in."

Either you can read the reviews or watch all one hour and 51 minutes of the show yourself... which we've embedded below courtesy of the magic of YouTube.

Well, it is good to see that Eddie and Alex are sober and playing well. Dave's voice on the other hand is well....dare I say it? WFN.

Was at this show, and they were great! Saw them earlier this year, and Dave's voice was fine then. But at this Vegas show, he had to almost just talk some of the lyrics, unable to sing really. But no fan of the band really cared. We were to see EVH anyway. Some reports criticze Van Halen for cancelling 30 scheduled shows after June 26. Speculating that they are fighting again, etc. None of them get it. These guys are in their late 50's, and they have been playing too many shows in a row. Dave's voice is gone, and they just need to rest and recoup. And will continue to tour again when they are ready is my guess. Anyway, the Vegas show had a longer EVH solo that the 1st concert we saw. Purely amazing. One beef with whomever was handling the spotlights at the MGM. Often when there was some great guitar work going on by Eddie, they still had the spotlights on Dave's dancing. WHO CARES ABOUT THAT. They should have had the spotlight switching to Eddie. Anyway, highly recommend this concert. Best comment we heard walking out at the end was a girl behind us that was probably around 30 saying, "If they have that much energy now, can you imagine what their concert was like back in the 80's? Wish I could have seen that! Wow."

I think the spotlight's are under the band's control, and Dave never really does well out of the spotlight. Saw the back in March in DC. Good set, though I wish the last half had felt a little less set in stone. It's pretty obvious they have a mostly locked in set list for the whole tour.
