This weekend, Steve Wynn's stepson Nick Hissom launched his music career.

Bedecked in glow in the dark sneakers, Nick took the stage at Wynn's Tryst nightclub to "perform" his newest single with aptly named DJ duo Manufactured Superstars.

And voila, like that... one press release, a one-song lip synching gig, and an appearance by Paris Hilton wrapped up in a big greasy hand job by Robin Leach's ghost writer and.... BAM, instant superstardom.

Surprisingly, Las Vegas Sun columnist John Katsilometes pulls the curtains back on the Hissom story and how the whole thing has been architected by Steve Wynn. Wynn married Hissom's mom, owns the hotel, runs the club, hired the Hollywood movie director/choreographer who shot his famed/embarrassing wedding video (since removed from YouTube by the casino magnate's minions) and has contracted Wynn's nightlife PR firm Kirvin Doak to fan the flames via the usual celebrity channels in Vegas and globally.

This truly is the story of a manufactured superstar, built and launched by burgeoning idolmaker Steve Wynn using the same tools of artistry and hype he uses to launch each of his resorts. Unlike his palaces of pleasure, this is a temporary construction, designed to feed the ego of Steve Wynn, the master manipulator, while giving his wife and stepson their own wing of the family business without ceding any actual control. This isn't the first time Steve Wynn has - during the downtime between projects - turned his megalomaniacal eye towards becoming a music producer as TWHT reminded us yesterday.

Nick Hissom is the new Mirage.
