Encore: Switch Closing, Encore Beach Club Tweaks And More

Lots of juice being squeezed at the food and bev department inside the Wynn complex today. The big news is that the papers have been signed to close Steve Wynn's Disney inspired wall moving restaurant Switch. No official closure date for this disaster has been released, but we will peg its demise to fall construction season which usually begins shortly after Labor Day weekend. No word yet if demolition workers will be required to change hard hats and construction vests every 15 minutes.

Along with the closure of Switch will come a retooling of Encore's Strip-side entrance. The timing of these jobs leads me to spitball that these jobs might result in a in a new indoor/outdoor dining concept. The primary reason for the entrance project is to better quell the chaos Encore Beach Club creates.

Finally, we've been hearing that the Wynn top brass is already considering making changes to Todd-Angry Lenahan's designs for Mizumi after receiving a "ton of blowback about the new design." The main complaint? "Too much red."

Hate to say it Todd, but we told ya so!

Comments & Discussion:

I heard EBC will be demolished and replaced with a new Porte Cochere. This is to capture the swarms of foot traffic generated by SLS as they draw folks north from P-HO. I also heard the new Porte Cochere will include a CVS to compete with the Venelazzo Walgreens and that Switch is being replaced by a Panda Express as a test location for it's ultimate destination in Cotai.

I heard that they were putting in a Massengils retail outlet, the only way they could add more douchebags.

Two weeks ago, I asked the bartender at Switch Bar when they were closing.. Dude got pretty defensive and asked where I heard that from. I told him VT. He told me that the deal between Morton and Wynn fell through and that Switch wasn't going anywhere. Each time it was open when we were there in March and May, Switch was full of people.

Should be interesting to see what happens.

Love saying this Chuckmonster, but Todd Lenahan had nothing (nada, zero, zilch) to do with the new Mizumi or any incarnation of it as you see it toay. The former Okada (by designer Hirsch Bedner in LA) is now an entirely Roger Thomas creation. Todd-Angry's design was conceived just before the Vegas economic nose-dive back in 2009 and was canceled when construction cash dried-up. The new red restaurant at Wynn is brought to you by Wynn Design & Development. Enjoy the sushi!

Objective... i still have the renderings that Todd posted to his website. They are virtually identical to the current designs with some minor changes. If what you are saying is true, then Todd should sue Wynn D&D for grand larceny, not me for posting the stupid pictures. I'd be happy to be an expert witness for the prosecution.

And furthermore, why does your IP address resolve to tal-studio.com?
