Peekaboo: The New Rooms at The D

VT reader Minton toured the new rooms at The D over the weekend as part of the "YelpLV" club. He was smart enough to send us some loverly video of the rooms which we have embedded below.

Deluxe Corner King

Did I hear that correctly... the corner deluxe mid-week goes for $600? What? Perhaps she said "sixty to one hundred" ??? Hard to tell. There is no way I'd pay $600 a night for anything downtown.

Deluxe Dual Queen

These go for about $50/night.

These rooms are slightly reminiscent of the new rooms at the Plaza, just not nearly as well designed.

Big thanks to Super VIMFP'er Minton for sharing the videos!

Comments & Discussion:

It sounds like she said "$60 to $100", as even the 1 Bedroom Spa Suite at the Golden Nugget most weekends is under $500. Using the room rates for a "standard" king room, which go for $29-39 midweek, $60-100 midweek for the "deluxe" corner king sounds about right. There's some really good weekend room rates most of June and all of July and August. You can get a "standard" king room for $49/night Friday and Saturday (The first Saturday in July is $59.). With July 4th being on a Wednesday this year, there appears to be some good room bargains to be had.

It goes for 60-100 per night, right now they're offering an upgrade to stay in the room, (explained in the double video) and if you fill out a survey they'll give you a match play for $25 (which is the cost of the upgrade).

I think she said you're looking at about $69 during the week.

It doesn't look bad. If the beds are as comfortable as they appear, I would definitely consider a stay.

Whoever's designing the beds keeps forgetting the comforters. I've never seen a bed at a hotel without a comforter before. That's the first thing I notice. Come on, spend an extra $100 bux!

Furnishings are very much like the rooms at Golden Gate, no surprise. D's rooms are bigger than GG, of course. I've liked my rooms at GG...wish my house had a room that nice.

It's easier to bleach all the stains out of white sheets vs a comforter. The truth.

Off-topic but is Sigma Derby at The D now ?

I heard $69 also. Competitive with Plaza rates. But you guys sure are funny.

Not going to lie. I had to Google where The D was. I thought I remembered they were changing Fitzgeralds over but never thought they'd actually do anything. Good stuff though. And PLEASE let me know if the sigma derby is over there now. I thought it had a fine spot at MGM Grand but maybe they booted it as part of the grand renovation.

no sigma derby that I am aware of, but they did say when they do the casino renovations the upstairs will all be coin operated "vintage" machines and the groundfloor will be all TITO/modern machines
