Tropicana: Bagatelle Renderings Leached
The folks responsible for the new Bagatelle day night pool hotel thingy inside of the Tropicana have served up a hot dose of renderings to celebrity blowhard blogger Robin Leach at the Las Vegas Sun.
Here's a photo of the nightclub (compared the previous incarnation), the pool and another interior space.
How many times have we heard this before? Stunning, spectacular, gala opening, success, 'making a splash', the Las Vegas experience, famous, DJ, unique, daybeds, luxury cabanas, multisensory.
Funny that they start their press junket nearly two years to the day from the one that announced the failed Nikki Beach at the Tropicana. As we've said previously, same shit different fork. Tropicana has zero to no chance competing with MGM, Cosmo, Wynn, Mirage, Bellagio, Mandalay etc..
Leach also says that One Group "acquired the property" from Tropicana. Is this true? I don't ever recall seeing a purchase price attached to the ownership of anything at Tropicana. Isn't this just a rental agreement? Then again, when have those pesky things called facts ever concerned the Hindenburg*.

Comments & Discussion:
They really did acquire the real estate. They have a long-term lease for the physical assets and bought the night and dayclub business outright.
So the Tropicana doesn't own its pool anymore?
From what I was told, the answer is no. I talked about it in Vegas Seven back in March: http://www.weeklyseven.com/blogs/gutters/2012/03/08/one-group-goes-tropical
I'm actually a little surprised no one else explored this angle. It's not totally unprecedented, but it is unusual.
So is the new nightclub just basked in white light vs neon purple? I'm sure it's stupendous, monumentally douchyful, hip beyond belief and will fail miserably, unless they cater to the Trop's 60+ yr old demographic.
I think you're on to something, jinx73 -- maybe they can hire an 80-year-old DJ with a pair of speakers on sticks and market to the line dancing crowd. Can't you imagine walking into the club doors and seeing the whole crowd doing the Hustle?
I think Fab Five Freddy is still looking for a gig.
I have a brilliant Idea, let's take the location of 2 night clubs that have failed in under a year, dump a bunch of money into it, and reopen it as a night club!!!
