An anonymous tipster has sent us a rendering of the porte cochere entrance to the proposed SLS Las Vegas.

SLS entrance rendering

Not only are they going after the Cosmopolitan's market segment, they're stealing their design sensibility too.

We assume that this is part of the presentation given to prospective investors in the hopes of cobbling together the cash needed to build the joint.

Is this Sam's attempt at creating a buzz and building hype?

Great get Chuckmonster, thanks!

Clean, sexy, uh, slender? Are those europeans in the rendering, because they all look quite fit. Mix in some doughy midwesterners for chrissakes.

I'd like to argue the point that SLS had a sleek design sensibility prior to Cosmo opening, but that would take time to google, plus one should really give a shit as a part of any intelligent dialog, so screw that.

If The folks from TheD do something positive at The Riv, and this SLS comes along like they hope, it will be good for everybody. #SaveTheNorthStrip

Actually... I think a modern arabic-chic look could do well - Neo-Sahara, especially with the economic growth of the middle asian countries it could be an interesting market target...

But that would require some forethought and a visionary... not a copycat...

I really hate those columns

Why does that just look like a (poorly) photoshopped pic of the Sahara front door? Looks like some SLS guests are blurrier than other.

Hardly a "scoop." This image, as well as others, were posted on Fox5's website. http://www.fox5vegas.com/story/18004998/plans-move-forward-to-redevelop-sahara-resort
Let's face it, the Sahara was dull, dirty, and long overdue for a major overhaul. I'm glad SBE stepped in and is actually repurposing the original structure, rather than implode and start anew. All the naysayers saying that sbe drove the Sahara into the ground need to realize that sbe bought that rat's nest of a property at the tail end of the boom... there was no way they could proceed with their plans at that time. They are doing more to sustain that property than Bill Bennett did. Bill Bennett chose to eliminate the convention space and replace it with one of the worst buffets in the city, and proceeded to close House of Lords (it was replaced with "Sahara Steakhouse" and didn't re-emerge until the early 2000s), bring in Nascar trash, demolish the original rooms, and turn what was once a fading lady into a trailer park housewife. At least sbe believes in this place enough to inject new energy and new life. Bill Bennett did worse for the legacy of the Sahara than anyone ever did.

Instantly thought Cosmopolitan rip off. That's all I got!

I also got a Cosmo feel about the drawing.

"... and turn what was once a fading lady into a trailer park housewife."

Nice turn of phrase! And overall a strong argument for the defense.

please link the fox5 images, because i'm only seeing a vid.

THE RED STILETTOS: bwahahaha! tough to argue sls came up with that(?)

Having seen more renderings, i like the plan more and more.

Wow, a couple of shots in that Fox5 video literally shows the red high heeled shoe from Cosmo in the center of the landscaping of the Porte Cochere. Seriously guys? At least make it a black shoe! HA!

I'm more intrigued after viewing the pictures. But are fresh ideas this hard to come by? The Strip is littered with the same entertainment options, the same candy stores, and soon the same corporate art!?

I know people are skeptical, but good for them if they pull this off.

Throw in some art-o-matic machines and I'm in.
