VegasEats: Jim's Plate

Speaking of hot air, Jim Murren has personally launched a nutrition program in all MGM resorts' employee dining rooms, ostensibly designed to get employees to eat better. The program takes the big brotherish name of "Jim's Plate." It even has a fancy handwritten "Jim" logo... look familiar?

Jim's Plate

Employees are encouraged to grab a "Jim's Plate" for lunch instead of filling a feedbag with stuff they actually like. The benefits touted are nutritional, but you know for damn sure that it is really about cost savings... get the employees off the expensive meat products and onto some pennies per pound iceberg lettuce, potatoes, kale and quinoa.

You know all the upwardly mobile execs eating in the EDR are lining up to chow down on "Jim's Plate" and lead their employees by example.... and hating every bite.

You work hard, you got stiffed on bonuses, healthcare and raises over the last five years... you deserve to pig out in the employee dining room. Three cheers for Chuck's Plate!

Thanks Misnomer for pointing out this post.

Comments & Discussion:

I'm not saying he's a douchebag, but the only salad dressing they have is vinegar and water.

I gotta say that I have my doubts that the lunchroom expenses of New York New York, Mirage, and MGM Grand are really eating into the corporate budget. Grand has a lot of employees, but it was never really a glamorous back of house; supposedly the backstage digs at Bellagio was one of the things that really knocked MGM's socks off.

So long as they aren't killing half the menu at Mangia and replacing it with Jim's Plate, I really doubt this is saving that much money at the cafeterias.

(puts on a bad Brian Fey impression) "They've been asking shareholders to eat Jim's Plate for two years now!"

I can't help but wonder if Jim's Dessert Plate is a big f*cking slice of humble pie.
