Treasure Island's Skull Lives On, From Space

Before the bootyectomy, before Treasure Island wussed out and became "ti" - a drink with jam and bread - there was a massive, awesomely metal skull hanging on its marquee.

Good news. You can't kill the undead.

Treasure Island's skull lives on at the Neon Museum, also fittingly known as the Neon Boneyard. The sign is massive. So large, in fact, that it can easily be seen from space (via Bing).

The skull is just one of the many remarkable signs on the boneyard tour. At the moment, tours are available by advance appointment only, but a new visitor's center is scheduled to open soon. Highly recommended.

If you go in the height of the blazing sun, under the skull's jaw is a great spot for momentary shade. I loved the tour as well.

"The Face on Earth?" My guess is that the Martians who listen to their version of "Coast to Coast AM" will now start believing that they originally came from Earth many, many years ago. :)

Awesome! ( and kinda sad). For me this represents a time when Vegas was it's most innovative and most fun. Every hotel was a little different.
Is there a hotel built in the last 5 years that will warrant a place in the neon boneyard? Aria? Cosmo?

Aria and Cosmo would need a sign to put in the boneyard..the letters that form "Cosmopolitan" would likely make it..but Aria? That'll go crashing in the implosion 30 years from now..
