Ameristar Signs Up With M Life

Here's something interesting, MGM Resorts International is on the verge of announcing that they have signed a strategic partnership with riverboat operator Ameristar Casinos to bolt their Star Rewards program onto M Life.

Ameristar Star Awards players would have their points transferred to M Life tier credits and their play levels ported over as well.

Here's how this all breaks out:

Star Awards (red) = M Life Sapphire

Star Awards Premiere (Silver) / Star Awards Elite (Green Star) = M Life Pearl

Star Awards Star Star Club (gold star) / Star Awards Ace (Gold Spade) = M Life Gold

The plan isn't in place yet, but when it is you can bring your Ameristar Star Awards to any M Life desk in Vegas and they'll dump you into the appropriate M Life tier.

This is a pretty slick move by MGM to get their fingers in a whole lot of local market pies without having to buy the mailing list or deal with operating a flotilla of slot barges all over the universe. One can only wonder what the cost of buying this business was.

What a surprise!

Yay, your old top tier is now mid tier. Congrats!

Interesting. I wonder if this is a way for MGM to solidify its bid for a casino franchise in Massachusetts since Ameristar is another of the companies with serious designs on being there: http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9S7IMSO1.htm

I thought about Ameristar's chances in New England a week or two ago after seeing this job posting that hangs a lot of hopes on the possibility: http://www.linkedin.com/jobs/jobs-Director-Government--2417690

Poor Ameristar, congrats on getting together with a company that still doesn't understand how to utilize their current player database.

I figured someting was up between these 2 companies. I received an email a few weeks ago from Ameristar to complete a survey, which had many questions related to receiving benefits at MGM properties.

Question now is...
Will MLife replace the Ameristar card?
Do you get MLife benefits at Ameristar?

I get really good offers from Ameristar and would hate to see these decline due to MLife 'taking over'.
