Sayonara Jay Fenster!

We've received word earlier today that friend of VT and Caesars Inc. Super Tweeter Jay Fenster is leaving the company to take a position running the social media show at Cannery Resorts.

This is a big deal.

Jay is one of us. He got his start writing Vegas guidebooks and maintaining a short-lived but awesome Las Vegas tourism blog before selling his soul to The Borg. For the last few years, Jay has become a Las Vegas social media powerhouse tasked with maintaining social media conversations at all of Caesars' Las Vegas properties.

In addition to this, Jay has been instrumental in luring the Vegas Podcast-A-Palooza from the Palms to the Flamingo and was the bulldozer responsible for making the Vegas Internet Mafia Family Picnic go off effortlessly.

Beyond the 9 to 5, Jay is one of the more interesting characters on the Las Vegas social media landscape, continually live casting his dance floor antics, symbiotic relationship between Mountain Dew and sleep disorders, professing his undying love of smoothies (and monkeys) and engaging in hysterical battles with boobs, buffoons and bffs. In short, he's a great guy and this is a big huge massive blow to Loveman Industries.

We wish Jay the best in his new endeavors (even though he prefers Van Hagar!)

Congrats on the move, Jay!

Thankfully you're staying in Vegas! Congratulations on the new gig!

Congrats Jay!

Congrats on the new gig Mr. Fenster!

Congratulations and best of luck, Jay!

Cool, Congrats Jay, and what's wrong with Van Hagar BTW?

Shocker, that's for sure. Jay's the man. Thanks for the post, Chuck.

Congratulations on the move Jay. It was nice to meet you at the Mafia picnic.

Best wishes, Jay. You are almost the only person I know who could make me read a string of tweets about a Celine Dion concert - some of your most brilliant work, I might add.

P.S. He's also an accomplished DJ. You can download some of his latest work here: http://jayfenster.com/mix/ I like it for a long solo drive.

Congratulations, Jay!

Every time I have had the pleasure of interacting with Fenster he has been a classy and penile induvidual. He will be a great addition to his new employer and I expect that we Vegas Internet Mafia followers will be spending much more time at Cannery Casinos than we previously had considered.

Classy and penile?????

did i say something worng? Don't wanna put that in your resume? That's a big compliment here in Oklahomer.

Congrats on the new gig Jay.

I don't know Mr. Fenster so I'm simply being pragmatic here:

CET to Cannery isn't exactly a lateral move. Is CET downgrading social media? Is "Drunk Scott" next?

Or is Cannery just being really agressive in their recruiting?

I absolutely believe that social media is much more effective for the local's properties. A super-tiny (dare I say microscopic) number of Las Vegas visitors are engrossed in the city to where they want to hear about it every day. However, many local's visit their properties in their area many times a month and really want to keep up on what is going on.

I wish him well.
