December 7, 1941, a day that will live in infamy.

I'm willing to bet that on December 7, 2001, things changed for a lot of us, too. There were probably those of us that loved Las Vegas, but on that day, I'm willing to say that our love for the city was articulated in a way better than any of us could have ever imagined. On December 7, 2001, our love for Bellagio was solidified. On December 7, 2001, the idea for Las Ramblas was born, the public's perception of what Las Vegas was and could be was determined. On December 7, 2001, "Claire de Lune" became the shit.

See, on December 7, 2001, Ocean's Eleven was unspooled in theaters across the country. I don't know about you, but I sat in the Cinema Star Luxury Theatre of Riverside, CA at the tender age of twelve and was transfixed. This was cool. Bellagio was beautiful - more importantly, because I was only twelve and the hope of my parents ponying up the cash to spend a night at Bellagio was a dream that would take five years to realize, this was my one and only glimpse inside Steve's masterpiece at the time. George Clooney was becoming to me what I knew Humphrey Bogart was for my father. I feel in love with that movie that day I saw it, and to be perfectly honest, I feel like I fully and entirely fell in love with Las Vegas at the same time.

How do I know this? To this day, I still hum "Blues in the Night" while I walk through Bellagio. I can reel off quotes from the film at any given moment and just can't stop. And from what I've seen both in person and on the Twitter most of you can do the same thing. You know that you're reading this right and that this is probably the least accessible vault ever designed. You know that the closest any man has ever come to robbing a Las Vegas casino was outside of Caesars in '87. You know that taupe is very soothing. And you know that for God's sake, whatever you do, don't under any circumstances...

Ladies and gentlemen, here's to ten years of Danny and his eleven.

Waiting... sweetheart.

RIP Bernie Mac

"Ted Nugent called.....he want's his shirt back.

I hope you were the groom

I'm not gonna lie. I love me some George Clooney.

I remember seeing the first preview in the theater, sometime in the late summer, and wondering if I had missed New York New York being demolished in real life as was being portrayed in the preview, finding out that it was intact, and then wondering if I had imagined that scene when I saw the movie in the theater and the "Xanadu" hotel was the one being demolished. I later learned that, because of the events of September 11th, the filmmakers replaced the destruction of NYNY. You can still see a few seconds of the original NYNY demolition scene in the "Making Of" featurette on the Ocean's 11 dvd.

I couldn't agree more. I had the same experience except that I was already 21 when that movie came out. I've always wondered, and even posed the question on this site about a month ago when a post was written about the early Wynn/Bobby Baldwin years at Bellagio, what affect that film had on the perception of Bellagio itself, and Las Vegas tourism for that matter, after it was released.

I feel like you rushed it a little bit.

Do you moisturize?

You think we need one more?
You think we need one more.
We'll get one more.

By the way, Rusty was totally into food trucks before it was cool.

as Elliot Gould said to Matt Damon-'get the fuck in the house'

December 7, 2009. The day I got married in Vegas by Elvis.

Perhaps when you grow up you'll learn how to correctly reel off FDR's most famous quote.

I can't believe its been that long.. do you live in Riverside, JohnH? Nice to see fellow IE-ers on VT.

I suppose if John had quoted President Roosevelt, he'd have indicated that by, you know, framing the words in quotation marks. Knowing John the way I do, I can assure you had his intention been to directly quote FDR, he would have. So can it, Andrew.

"You, of all people, should know that in your casino there's always someone watching.."

"We found our grease man"...

"The teen beat thing was a little harsh..."

"I only lied about being a thief."

Oceans 11 was on HBO last night...couldn't turn it off.

Saul, are you sure you're ready to do this?

If you ever ask me that question again Daniel, you will not wake up the following morning!

He's ready.

Danny: "I'd like a Whiskey.... and a Whiskey."

Its the hand gestures that make the line.
