Pencil: Treasure Island's Black Friday Cyber Monday Deal

Ahoy mateys... its time to take a break from swabbing the poop deck to run the latest TI deal through the pencilerator.

Here's the deal:

Black Friday / Cyber Monday Preview Sale

- Up to 50% Off our Standard Room and Suite Rates (Rates displayed include discount)
- Two (2) Free Lunch or Dinner Buffet Vouchers (Mon-Fri)
- Deposit refundable with cancellation up to 2 days prior to arrival
- Best rates are online

Wow... 50% off standard room rates! That is a hefty hefty discount. A quick check for a fictional three night stay - Arrival on Tue Dec 6 and checking out the morning of Friday Dec 9 - shows unbelievable rates: Tue $50, Wed $50 & Thu $5 for the deluxe room.

Checking rates for the same dates and same room (in a different browser) reveals rates of Tue $65, Wed $65 Thu $72... and forces me into a "Winter Holiday Doorbuster Sale" deal that claims "35% Off Prevailing Rate." This deal promises a $50 gift card that has a lot of black out dates.

So how exactly do I get to check out hotel rates that aren't attached to a deal? If I can't then their pricing system and purported "discounts" are dubious. If you aren't able to buy something at 100% of the price, doesn't that make the highest discounted price the new list price? Could it actually be that the "35% discount" price is the list price but they're reserving the right to charge walk-ins 35% more? Am I going insane?

Anyways... fifty bucks is a great price to pay at TI for the month of December even with the $20 per day resort fee and 12% tax. Be sure to make sure that the add-ons they promise are in play on the dates you book.

Two (2) free buffet vouchers, per room, per stay (not per night) will be provided to guest(s) upon check-in for qualified reservations with a two (2) night minimum stay. Each buffet voucher is valid for lunch or dinner, Monday through Friday. (NOTE: Two (2) night reservations arriving on a Friday must understand the voucher is only valid on the arrival date. No substitutions will be made for Friday late arrivals.) Buffet vouchers are not valid for any buffet meals served on Saturday or Sunday. Buffet vouchers do not include gratuities, and may not be combined with any other offer. No refunds or transfers are allowed on unused buffet vouchers, which expire at check-out.

Comments & Discussion:

I plugged in the dates for my upcoming trip and Friday and Saturday were $104.97 and Sunday was $44.97 for the Deluxe Room. Sorry, but not a deal compared to what I'm paying for three nights in a Forum Tower room at Caesars.

I do love the series of penciling out deals. I find myself doing it regularly. For some dates in February, it was coming up $99 on Fri/Sat nights, for a non gaming offer, thats pretty solid, considering the strip is starting to raise rack rates on weekends again. (and overall)

I am loving the discounts I get on rooms online. I used Treasure Island's Facebook to book a room and got a cheaper room because of it. If you planning on going I'd check it out! http://www.facebook.com/TIvegas?sk=app_230092780361018

My experience with TI is that a fairly modest amount of play draws some pretty good offers. I stayed in a corner room for the weekend of #VIMFP -- Fri through Tuesday for $208 total (including taxes, resort fee waived, VIP check-in which rocks on Fri afternoon). It was really hard to beat when compared to other rates that weekend.
