Reading The Fine Print On Luxor's Winter Deals
Ahhh... fall. The leaves turn weird colors and fall off the trees. The sun sets in the middle of the afternoon, Las Vegas' most underperforming assets are shuttered for renovation or permanently. Meanwhile, marketing managers push out the deals, hoping to entice some holiday scragglers to make the trip to town.
Poof. Like manna from heaven, or a perfectly basted turkey, Luxor has rolled out two holiday deals in the hopes of bringing your eggnog enhanced asses to the pyramid.
Bam. Book two nights and get two complimentary buffets at any MGM property. As Trippers everywhere shout out "Bellagio" at once, let us take a look at the fine print:
This offer is valid for breakfast or lunch only at participating outlets with the exception of Monte Carlo, where it is valid for brunch only. Bellagio and The Signature at MGM Grand are not participating in this promotion. Outlets at Bellagio and New York-New York are not included in this offer. 2 complimentary buffets assumes double occupancy. Buffet is only valid once per person per stay (maximum 2 people per room, $20 per person). This offer does not accumulate if unused. Offer is not valid for dinner and gratuity is not included. Some properties may require a coupon to be presented at the buffet for redemption. These coupons will be provided at check-in.
Wahwaaaaaah.
So lets say you don't want to eat at the buffet. You're in luck as Luxor has an offer for you too.... Save 20% per night! plus get $10 off various show tickets (Carrot Top, Fantasy & Menopause) 2 for 1 Dos Equis at T&T and complimentary admission to the Cathouse. Let's do the math... room rates average about $40/night, with 20% off you're saving about $8 per night (roughly half the resort fee.) Are you really gonna use those other comps? If so, this is a good deal. If not, get the buffet deal instead and gorge until you poop your pants at ARIA or MGM Grand.
Here's the fine print:
Based on availability and subject to blackout dates. Promotional rates available online only. Additional charges will apply to reservations made by phone. To book by phone, please call Luxor at 877.386.4658 and mention code LD115. Offers in coupon are subject to change. One night deposit required to reserve your stay. Reservation must be in the name of the adult guest checking in.
Additional charges will apply to reservations made by phone? What the fuck is that about?
Luxor is charging you to use their telephone reservation agents? Way to go customer service.

Given the weight of all that bullshit, it's no wonder Luxor's foundation is fucked.
