M Resort Expansion To Add Second Tower, Shopping Promenade and More

M Resort Expansion Plan

While enjoying my most recent on-the-way-out-of-town stay at the always impressive M Resort, a shift manager dropped a bit of a bomb to us. M Resort may be planning to start construction on a new tower and possibly other guest amenities such as a shopping center in the early part of next year. [To be clear, this expansion is not to be confused with the event pavilion/shed that began construction a few weeks ago. - Ed]

Wait what?

Begging and pleading for more information, my newest friend gave me some nice details. Seems that the resort always runs at such high occupancy that Penn National, the M's new owners, feel that there is enough demand to expand the resort even in this questionable economy. On top of that, the utilities and grading were installed for just such an expansion when the original property was built, making this a very viable possibility for the not too distant future.

wow cant wait to see this happen i wonder if the gaming floor will be bigger

If Marnell Corrao Associates is allowed to design it inside and out: BONERSVILLE.

Big fan of the M, go there often because the sportsbook is the best place to vegetate on a Saturday and Sunday during football season (just as long as you get there early enough to establish a beachhead). But I'm always mystified at the relative lack of bustle on the gaming floor on weekend nights, considering the resort seems to be at full occupancy. Maybe alot are venturing north?

Whatever they do, bon chance to them, though I think a shopping center seems highly risky. But they can hedge the risk by putting in such solid, popular retailers like Spencers Gifts and Chess King.

I think this hinges on the new stadium planned for that area. Plans are moving ahead, but I'm not holding my breath until the stadium breaks ground.

In the same way that I think we may see CET pull back on Linq if the taxes for their stadium are not approved. I think the success of Linq will be partially dependent on all the foot traffic to stadium events.

Both stadiums are going to be basketball arenas. We'll see how well two new ones work in a city already brimming with arenas.

Just makes me think, if they expand way the heck out there, they would probably need to add a second registration area or something, b/c to walk from the current registration to where the tower is supposed to be is wayy too far, same goes for the casino.

How many different arenas/shed can one city support? DC/Baltimore is way bigger than Vegas and we barely support 2 arenas, one of which doesn't host big sports events at all, 2 large pavilions and 2 small pavilions with a lot of sharing between the small ones.

With 2 million locals, and another 38+ million visitors, we could handle another arena. As for Linq, Caesars wants us locals to pony up the money for their project. I really don't see us going for it.

The M expansion should be interesting. Hopefully it looks as good as the rest of the resort.

I am thinking the new tower would be more adjacent to the existing casino space... just to the east of the casino where the multiplex theater was originally proposed. Wish the M was closed to the strip.. like somewhere just south of the Trop

for example - do any "fight" markets compare to vegas?
