Even More Wynn Renovations In The Pipeline

With new rooms, new Tower Suites accommodations, a new baccarat salon, and a new high limit slot room in the works, you'd think we'd have expected this nugget of news: the common areas of the Tower Suites at Wynn are next on the list of renovations. Why are we still surprised? We thought they were just too nice and fresh looking to even be considered for a renovation and yet, here we are, just three weeks shy of when they're set to begin.

Reader LeoNYC tipped us off in the comments of our last Wynn piece highlighting a peculiar warning American Express Travel was disclosing:

TheTower Suites at Wynn Las Wynn will be under renovation from October 31, 2011 through December 23, 2011 (completion dates subject to change). This renovation will impact the Tower Suites lobby, front desk, concierge and the Tableau restaurant/lounge. Guestrooms and suites should not be affected. A temporary lobby, front desk and concierge will be set up and guests will be offered other restaurant options within the Resort. Guests will also be instructed to use the Wynn Resort guest elevators during the renovation. While every effort is being made to ensure the comfort of our guests during this period, we apologize in advance for any inconvenience that may be experienced.

Having not heard about this anywhere else, I did a little more digging and couldn't find much more info beyond JetBlue Getaways saying the same thing.

If true, the description sounds like a logistical nightmare - checking in on the south end of the building (though the space that is the former Alex would make a stunning temporary lobby), trekking north to the elevators, then back south through the room hallways to get to your suite. It's not a big deal in any other Vegas hotel, but convenience and privacy are the appeal of the Tower Suites and this renovation process is offering neither of those.

Something tells me that in the next three months, Encore's VIP options will be marketed like never before. Until then, anyone at Wynn want to drop us a line and tell us when and where you'll be selling the Tower Suites scraps? No, seriously.

Comments & Discussion:

I just called Wynn and they confirmed the closures. I switched my dates.
Thanks for the heads up

MikeE, great report. Will Tableau be sacrificed for the high limit slot room, or is it being closed solely during construction? Can the VIP check-in and lounge, off the hallway toward (formerly) Alex be used for Tower Suites registration? Hope you get some info from someone inside Wynn. This will be fun to follow.

Good thing I booked encore ts rather than Wynn for my December trip.. But I guess this means upgrades will be hard to come by..

What is this, some kind of Wynn fansite?

^ Looks like not that much is happening over at downtown :)

Just talked to the Reservation desk as I have a Tower Suite booked for Nov 11-13. She said the checkin will be in the old Alex space and "it looks nicer than the old lobby right now". There is still a private entrance. Breakfast will be served in Terrace Point cafe, but will have a nicer menu. The only difference will be the use of main elevator instead of the private elevator. She also said they had a meeting today about it with all reservation staff and management ensured it will "as nice, but probably a better experience" than if the renovation was not going on. She said they are going to go out of their way to make the experience up to Wynn standard and there is nothing to worry about. I ended up chatting with her for a bit (we ended up being from the same town in Michigan!) and in the end she said that I'm actually better off staying at the Wynn as opposed to going to Encore because of the extras they will do to make up for the renovation.

I'm going to stick with it and we'll see what happens! hope this helps...

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys find out about the renovation of the Wynn Tower Suites Lobby.
There is no question Wynn will do their best to make up for the inconvenience. However, one thing that makes the Tower Suites entrance very convenient is the proximity of the elevators from the Registration desk. Other than that, the rooms will be the same, service as well, and probably people will miss Tableau and the private pools (which probably will be closed, I guess).
