Imperial Palace Not Taking Reservations After July 1 2012
According to Caesars Entertainment's fabulous Total Rewards booking engine, we have discovered that Imperial Palace is not accepting hotel reservations after July 1, 2012, ending the Imperial Palace's 32 year lifespan on the Las Vegas Strip.

As has been previously reported, the Imperial Palace will undergo a complete rebranding, and partial renovation, as it becomes one of the anchor hotels surrounding Project Linq, a $550 million dollar entertainment district which features the High Roller observation wheel on the other side of the monorail tracks.
We can also assume that the temporary closure of the Imperial Palace will also coincide with the permanent closure of O'Shea's.
Big huge thanks to VT reader A5RoadDogg for the super sleuthy tip.

Comments & Discussion:
If I'm good for anything, it's for obsessive-compulsive checking of my comps months into the future...
I noticed this about 2 months ago, I will add a caveat that greater then 6 months out you can see places on CET's system not accepting reservations. I think there is a better then average chance that this does mean they will be closing the hotel tower for renovations etc, but I'd be cautious in calling it definitive.
They have several towers, I believe. I'll be surprised if the property isn't continually open and renting rooms long after the middle of next year.
I asked our server at Hash House last week if she'd heard anything about them closing during the renovations. She said they hadn't been told anything at all, and assumed she'd have heard *something* if they were closing down in the next 6-8 months. She seemed sincere, but to be honest I was kind of mad crushing on her Jeaneane Garafolo bangs and dark rim glasses vibe anyway so I'd have bought whatever she was peddling
Not amazed by this. It is possible that the casino and Hash House will remain open for a bit but rooms will be unavailable.
I'll definitely be checking with a couple bartenders I've gotten to know next month, to see what they are hearing.
Hope it makes it a few days past the 4th Holiday, already planning to pay my last respects to O'Shea's that weekend. Maybe I can be the last guy to 7 out at the Craps table.
I remember trying to book a room at Barbary Coast (aka Bill's) a couple of years ago, and not seeing availability more than six months out... Bill's is still there.
I stayed at IP in August. I had stayed there twice in the previous ten years or so, and it was my best visit there since the Englestad days. That is to say, not good, but well above reputation and a damn good deal.
We shall see how this turns out. If they are going to rebrand, tear it down, whatever, they have to have a better plan than what's in place to make that work. In this economy, chalk me down as skeptical.
That property is so physically segmented, in terms of rooms, they should be able to keep fair amount of inventory on line (and making money!) throughout even a fairly major re-modeling/re-branding...don't ya think?
