Tropicana Hearts Boobies

Today, the Tropicana announced that it will turn its building and website pink for the entire month of October to help raise awareness for National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Changing a coupla lightbulbs and a few lines of CSS doesn't really amount to squat, so the Tropicana has also lined up a number of special events where the proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation.

Events include Pink Room Packages, a Fashionably Pink event at Nikki Beach club, dining nights at Bacio and a whole bunch more.

This is great.

As I'm sure many of you have in your lives, someone very special to me was diagnosed with breast cancer (my mom) way back in 1972 when I was about 4 years old. Even after a mastectomy and numerous rounds of cobalt radiation the cancer spread to her lymph nodes, giving doctors little hope that she would survive. By some stroke of luck, a coupla miracles, and dedicated care by our health professionals she beat it and kicked ass on this planet for another 30 something years before heading to the big casino in the sky in 2001.

Casinos don't have to do this, they'll generate money regardless. To put in the effort and time and cash to help fight this disease that affects so many of us is demonstration that somebody over there cares about their community.

Congratulations to the Tropicana for doing what they can to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Yay for boobies!

We lost my mother to breast cancer several years ago. It's awesome that Tropicana is doing this! Cheers!

Well said. One more reason for me to like the new Tropicana and the people running it. Staying there again next week and proud to be doing it.

Props to the Trop!

I am a person whose family history says I will die of cancer (My probability is around 100%). Please don't think I am anti-awareness, research or cure. But, the pink thing has taken on a life of its own. Breast cancer awareness is so pervasive now that I think they have a market reach that is more than their illness level. I wish the casino industry would also focus on prostate cancer. I know they can't touch lung cancer with a 10 foot pole, and I'm fine with that. Since men are a much harder group to reach for cancer screening, it just seems the prostate thing might have a better net result. That and I think people are starting to get "Pink fatigue".

Great gesture by the Trop.

The Excalibur buffet is currently doing something for Irritable Bowel Syndrme.

This is cool. I just booked rooms at the Trop for the weekend of the 21st so I wonder what will be happening the five days I am there.

I'm all for charitable donations. But one thing rings to mind from an episode of Bullsh*t via P&T.

If all the money given to pink things and lids and shirts and goods really went to cancer research it would have been cured, but in reality, most of it doesn't, its all brand marketing.

I'm sure I'm right in guessing that the Trop benefits will go to a good place. And they probably won't drop the ball for a good charity. *hint hint*

I recently lost my mother to breast cancer, so I applaud the Trop for doing this!

I recently was in LV and thought the Trop looked amazing. Another reason to love them!

I lost my grandma to breast cancer and will definitely stop by to check this out, the "new" Tropicana looks great, all white and clean, had a great time there this past weekend and I plan to stop by in October to see it all in pink..... and to get my money back too.
