How many times has this happened to you:

Bloop bleep bloop bleep bloop bleep.

"Spin the wheel grandma! Spin it SPIN SPIN!"

"Shut up kid, I'm buyin a vowel. Sorry about that hon, yeah I'd like a vodka tonic, hold the tonic, neat, no air, no fruit."

You know em, you love em, you hate em.... one of the most addicting reel slot machines, and the only place in the world where you are guaranteed to hi-five someones great grandmother - the Wheelie slots.

Today, we memorialize the man who designed the actual Wheel of Fortune, as seen on TV, Mr. Ed Flesh who passed away last Friday at the age of 79.

In the pilot for "Wheel of Fortune," the wheel stood upright and was rather small, making it difficult to see on screen. Mr. Flesh laid it flat and made it big enough so that home viewers could clearly discern its markings.

The first wheel he created, in 1975, was a humble affair of cardboard, paint and light bulbs; the current incarnation is steel and Plexiglas and weighs more than 2,400 pounds.

The wheel that inspired a million fantasies, bankrupted tens of thousands of players and swallowed billions of dollars of quarters... the Wheel of Fortune.

Mr. Flesh, this Bud's for you.
