NY NY liquidation renovation

It appears that MGM Resorts International is getting their pre-recession renovation plans back on track. According to asset liquidators CA Global Partners, the New York New York hotel and casino is liquidating 500 rooms worth of furniture and other miscellaneous items.

Items include groovy art deco inspired furnishings from the Broadway and Skyline rooms as well as some miscellaneous artwork and chairs.

Since there is no catalog associated with this auction, we can assume that the hope is to unload all of the furnishings to large lot purchasers, not nincompoops like you.

In addition to the good news that NYNY is engaging in long needed room renovations, we're happy to hear that Jim Murren will be on hand to personally suck the farts out of any chairs you buy as a free service.

Next up... Luxor and Monte Carlo.

Thanks to VT reader Kurt for the tip off!

At least some of the large lot purchasers will sell to individuals. We redecorated our bedroom with furnishings from the "original" Venetian rooms (before the de-theming) through Hotel Furniture Liquidators (www.hotelfurniture.com) based in 'Vegas. We got a great deal for some high-quality furnishings (most of it Drexel-Heritege).

So, maybe Tony Santo can pick up this entire lot cheap and put it in the Las Vegas Club. They can change the nick name (again) to LV-LV!

That's some great news, and I'd love to see Luxor and Monte Carlo get the renovations they need in the next few years. Especially Luxor. The place looks half finished, stuck between themes.

Nincompoops!

Damn, i was kinda hoping to pick up a cum-stained couch on the cheap.

Why only 500 rooms? Maybe they are doing this in phases. I wonder which MGM-moderne design they are going with this time? Unfortunately they are stuck with the small room size.

Maybe the 500 rooms they're doing are the smoking rooms, and the whole property might go smoke free?? If it does, I'll be staying there later this year!!

What about us cotton headed ninny muggins? Will they sell to us?

You get nothing and like it ninnymuggins!

I just wonder how MGM Resorts plans to move some of the furniture in the current Luxor Pyramid rooms, if they plan on doing so, or if they are going to concentrate a remodel on the East and West tower rooms..some of the furniture in the Pyramid rooms dates back to the original Egyptian motif, and is damn heavy..

The Monte Carlo rooms, as has been noted elsewhere on this website, are in desperate need of a makeover..that will help make a good property even better..

Ooh! So excited to see what kind of Modern Bland™ Murren will approve for the renovation!

I found the rooms sort of small so I cant think of anything I would want from the place but the revamp sounds like a good idea.
