Remember When Cosmopolitan 86d A Transsexual?
Remember a month or so ago when news broke that Cosmopolitan (allegedly) 86'd a pre-op transsexual from their property for... being a transsexual?
Now comes the news that the Cosmopolitan hates the local LGBT community so much that they're hosting the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada's annual ARTrageous Vegas! auction. At the Cosmopolitan! With a fashion show! AND body painting!

Using the flawed logic presented by the original accuser, the Cosmopolitan is hosting this event only so they can get all the local Las Vegas LGBT community in one place so they can give them all writs of trespass. FOREVER!
Step one... kick all the LGBT out of our property.... Step Three: Profit! Yeah... thats it.
In all seriousness.. I'm curious to know if this event is part of a post-86ing sooting of frayed nerves, or was the Cosmopolitan planning on doing something to support the local art community beforehand? Maybe a little bit of both.
Regardless, a good community deed like this deserves to be noted.... particularly by those who shouted the hyperbolically inflated - and fraudulent - accusations to begin with.
Thank you Mac567567 for the tip.

Comments & Discussion:
One thing the mainstream media often does poorly is follow up on stories. The original stories played online in many places but also in the LVRJ and LVSun/Las Vegas Weekly. After Steve Friess exposed the distinct possibility that the story was partly or fully bogus I waited to read a follow-up piece in the R-J, Sun and/or Weekly, but haven't seen one.
That is a disservice to readers, leaving everyone who didn't read Friess to believe the worst about Cosmo.
I bet Cosmo would have hosted this event anyway but I'm sure the property is still bending over backwards to repair any possible anger.
not to many stories get followed up on at all. the righthaven lawsuits and the batman beat down being the only ones I can think of.
If it was just to placate a few angry people then something on this level wouldnt be logical. After the transsexual issue came up it seemed to dissipated fairly quickly which suggests it was bogus from the start.
With an event like this they're safer bending over backwards then forwards! Zing!
But seriously, good on them!
