TeamVT honcho CanadianCrapShooter is here to whip you lard asses into shape enough to run around the Strip, half drunk, at night. Take it away CCS! - Ed

Approximately 12 hours from now registration will open for the 2011 Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. This is the year for you to come out and join TeamVT. We invite anyone who registers for the race to sign up and join TeamVT. But do it fast, we will be putting a limit on how many team members we have. Over the next few weeks we will be sending out more information about what we have planned. You can register for the Dec 4 event at http://www.stripatnight.com. You might even find some coupon codes if you look around.

Don't worry if you haven't run a race before. I will be putting together a training program that can help any couch potato train for AND complete the 1/2 Marathon. I'll be posting the training schedule and a bunch of information about everything from what kind of shoes you should wear to what you should eat the night before the race. If you've ever thought about training and running a race before, now is the time!

ran the last 2.. plan to do this year as well. still deciding if i want to do a half or full though...

Ran this race in the inaugural year ('09) it was with the 'Rock n Roll' series. The start was at the sound end of the Vegas Strip at Mandalay Bay and started south for a mile before heading back north all the way up the entire strip. The turn around point was just a few blocks south of Downtown Vegas. From there, we headed all the way back down the strip to end at Mandalay Bay.
* The scenery of all the hotels/casinos was pretty neat and definitely helped with any boredom
* The crowd support was good, considering it was a 6:15 start and this was probably about the time quite a few of the people were just going to bed.
* Big race with 27,000+ but the organization was good. Transportation and shuttles to the race wasn't an issue because it seemed like everyone just stayed on the strip, woke-up, and just walked right out to the starting line.

Interesting Part: The local CBS affiliate in Vegas was providing live coverage of the race on TV and online. Right around mile 12 in front of MGM Grand, I came up on a reporter and she and the cameraman began to run aside me. Since I was wearing my Texas Flag running shorts she asked me about being from Texas and asked where I lived. She then wished me luck with the rest of the race.

I'd recommend this race to any runners out there, it's another great excuse to go to Vegas.

Was really hoping this race would get bumped back a week to (likely) coincide with the big retail closeout sale at the Wynn each December. My wife wanted to run in this one but will likely stick with the White Rock race in Dallas on the 4th instead.

that just seems like sooooo much exercise!! Have fun to all who compete, I'll be enjoying a cocktail in your honour, hell I'll even have 26 of em, on for each mile you run. And for the Canadians it'll be 42 for each Kilometer too!!

How do I sign up for the team?

Sorry guys, we're a little bit behind. You WILL be able to sign-up on the TeamVT site. That is, once I create the sign-up form. Don't worry, we'll let you all know.
