No More Bets: The Sahara Is Closed
Last call. Last call. Last call. The tables are shut down, slots are off, the bar is closed and the final gaggle of patrons are being rushed to the exit.
The doors of the Sahara will be locked minutes from now precisely at 2pm, ending the relationship many of us have had over the last 50 years.
But it didn't have to go this way, at least if you listen to Dennis Carade, a front desk clerk at Sahara for 39 years. He told the American Foreign Press that SBE is the root cause of Sahara's demise.
These [owners] are the worst we've ever had. They came in here from California and they are very arrogant. It took them about three and half years to take this hotel right down to the ground. These people should be ashamed to themselves.
Sayonara Sahara. We loved you. We'll miss you. We will never forget you.

Man can't believe it... Sahara is gone. So pretty much the Strip ends at Encore. I have no reason to go past Encore other then to visit Slots A Fun. Please don't say there closing that too.
Sunday evening (around 8:00 PMish), May 1st I said my goodbye to Sahara and the place was deserted. Later that evening we went down to Slots-O-Fun and it was at least twice as buys as Sahara was. As long is S-O-F is tied in with Circus Circus (which somehow remains profitable, though I don't know anyone who admits to stepping foot in there), it ain't going nowhere.
