Riviera To Renovate Sportsbook
Hot on the trail of the news that Flavor Flav was in discussions to open a fried chicken joint at the Riviera, comes word that they will be outsourcing and completely upgrading their sportsbook offerings just in time for football season!
Our pal Howard Stutz over at the RJ has the details about independent sports book operator Lucky's taking over operations of the Riviera's book operations and the plans for the new book.
Great! Fried chicken. Players stay free. New sportsbook.... the Riviera is on a roll!

Comments & Discussion:
It's refreshing to see that they're not just letting the property rot, waiting out an eventual shutdown like the Sahara and are doing little things like this that can add up to surviving the downturn.
Even with the sportsbook the property is still going to rot. Have you seen the people who go into the Rivera?
The return of Rich Little, midget wrestling, Flavor Flav, and outsourcing the sportsbook. I'm not sure whether these are desparation moves by a dying property, placeholders to make it appear like things are happening, or a concerted effort to improve the place. I suspect Sahara's closing spooked the Riv's Starwood ownership into thinking they needed to do something.
They already outsourced the sportsbook--Leroy's had been running it for a few years.

This time, they basically put out an RFP and decided to go with Lucky's instead of Leroy's, Cantor, or anyone else.
The questions I'd like answered are: how many companies answered the RFP? And what exactly made Lucky's the winner?
That would tell us a lot about what to expect at the Riviera.
