Cosmopolitan Gets Roped
The first time I visited the Cosmopolitan as a guest, the scene in the lobby was controlled chaos. Throughout the lobby greeters met guests and led them to check in desks. It proved to be a very friendly, orderly process even if the hotel wasn't ready to open.
The second time I visited the Cosmopolitan as a guest, the scene in the lobby was complete chaos. Gone were the greeters, replaced by throngs of frustrated guests milling about wondering what line they should be on, if there is a line, who they were behind in line and where that line actually started and ended.
I stopped by the other day to see for my own two eyes if anything had changed. I was surprised to find that there were no throngs of people checking in. In fact, there was barely anybody in the lobby checking in at 8pm on a Monday evening. This either means that everybody was already taken care of or Monday was a light booking night.

I was also surprised to see that Cosmopolitan has erected some rope rodeo "lanes" to help clarify exactly where guests should queue upon checkin. The erection of these rope lanes doesn't really clarify much, mostly because some lanes have pillars in them.

Regardless, I'm really happy to see that they're making some attempts at tackling the myriad disastrous issues that their hotel check in process contains.
Oh and here's a quick tip: Cosmopolitan's Hooker Island is at Vesper. Go get 'em guys!

That's Soooo Raven!

And with a simple placement of rope order is brought to chaos
It was only a matter of time. I'm not sure it is practical to go without rope lines with hotels this big. Almost as important is that the ropes keep people from milling around and blocking the lines near check-in.
note that the caesars vp of hotel ops left caesars and started at the cosmopolitan with mr. unwin last week.... caesars take 2.
and is now their vp of hotel ops...
With how bad their software is as checking people in, assigning the right room, emailing you a copy of your bill in the first 8 phone calls, etc...I just don't see how a rope is going to solve all of their problems.
