A casino job fair took on more importance Friday because of Wynn Las Vegas. The casino hired 9,500 people and most are coming from other Las Vegas properties.¬ Seventeen of those other properties held the job fair at Nevada Partners to collect names of the best who can fill voids.¬

Wynn Las Vegas was not represented in the fair¬ because the hiring process has basically finished for the resort. Experts say¬ the casino-stealing employees from other casinos will be a positive impact all around. It means a chance to shine for workers who get promoted into the vacant spot.

MGM-Mirage will be the hardest hit. Twenty percent of the Wynn Las Vegas workforce is from owner Steve Wynn's former properties now owned by MGM. Many of the 2,000 people making the switch from¬ MGM to Wynn have not yet resigned because the new resort is still three weeks away from opening.

MGM-Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman says this creates an enormous opportunity. "Certain colleagues choose to move on, many others are right behind them ready to bring their creativity and energy to a new position for themselves." He expects to see a number of resignations next week.
