Wynn Las Vegas Updates Website!

Some nights when I'm alone, I'll make myself a few cocktails, relax on the computer, and play my favorite tunes. About halfway into my first drink when a good buzz starts setting in, I begin browsing the casino websites plugging in potential dates. This, for me, is a ritual. It's how all my Vegas trips are born.

But I never, ever bothered with Wynn's website. Why? Because nothing killed a good buzz like the counterpoint of Johnny Marr against what sounds like stock orchestral music and, "Hi, I'm Steve Wynn and you've..." Ugh. Charles Ives wouldn't even approve.

But on this day, Steverino's own birthday, it seems that we the people who bitched and moaned about this problem for over five years (literally!) are recipients of the gift we've all been waiting for.

Yes, ladies and gentleman: you can now turn off the audio on Wynn Las Vegas' website! Hell, it doesn't even start by default!!

But that's just one of many improvements. While the overall aesthetic of the site remains the same, the goods are front and center - room, dining, show, and Red Card information highlighted in deep red above a screen that loads much, much quicker. HTML is a beautiful thing. Some new images are scattered around as well as videos from their YouTube profile. They've even gone ahead and cannibalized the extraneous Encore site into a one-stop shop. Oh, and it'll load on your iPad despite the ever present Flash.

Methinks I'll make myself a cocktail tonight, blast some tunes, and happily poke around some more.

Comments & Discussion:

Fucking finally.

After I did my last restaurant schedule update for Vegas Mate and I had to visit this site about 20 times, I was soooo over it.

But what is up with the poor typography in the upper right?

For anyone that works on the Web, check out the source...

Holy includes, batman! There's gotta be like 20 CSS and JS files being included. A tad surprised they didn't combine and minify some of that stuff.

I have a few quibbles with how they implemented the sliding nav but in general, it's nice to get an upgrade.

Where's Tableau gone I wonder?

As an interesting addition - much like Wynn and Encore Macau, there is no longer a dedicated website for Encorelasvegas.com.

Finally we can search both "properties" as they actually are - one large property on one website.

i think i liked the old version better.

Plus encore deserves its own site. I consider them seperate hotels.

@RateVegas I found Tableau, between "SW Steakhouse" and "Wazuzu", on the bottom of the webpage. All the restaurants from Wynn and Encore are listed alphabetically.

Treating Encore as an extension of Wynn is going to cause anguish for quite a few guests that arrive at the Wynn entrance only to find their rooms are over at Encore.

Wynn and Encore are now one and the same. As Steve closes/consolidates restaurants and clubs, Wynncore has been merged into one.

i prefer to think of them as seperate hotels.

Yes, they added Tableau in - it wasn't there earlier.

@RateVegas - ugh, what a crappy upgrade so far. Just clicking around on the site produced some unintended effects. The poker room page doesn't work, sometimes clicking on the main nav links goes back to the original flash intro and other random effects here and there. They need to polish up this turd.

Spoke with a WynnCore casino representative yesterday about the Red Card online system. Basically, they are still working out the kinks so that you can log in and access your promotions.
