I posted these to The Twitter on opening day, but am only now getting them to the site, sorry about that. These are a set of five Video Poker paytables found in the bartop machine at Bond. I'll let the Video Poker experts in the crowd make the salient analysis as the mathematics of Video Poker interests me about as much as nude photos of Celine Dion.

Cosmopolitan Video Poker Paytables

Comments & Discussion:

I don[t know the exact %, but for bartops those are pretty solid offerings, not full play, but a step down. I imagine those bartops will get reduced over time, many new properties pay tables start out fairly decent and then are ratcheted back some.

Any word on whether or not Cosmopolitan will be comping drinks for bartop VP players? Hopefully they don't go the Wynncore route.

Those are middle-of-the-road. Better than Caesars/MGM, not as good as Boyd/Stations. It would be nice if they added a progressive or a card of the day. Those are cheap to provide and they spice up 7-5 Bonus Poker nicely. I'd also be interested to know if any Video Poker teams "hit" Cosmopolitan on opening day, finding exploitable machines.

As a Double Bonus Poker guy, 9/6 is what I consider Strip Average and the only playable option (10/7 is "full pay.")

But, I didn't see 9/6 at Cosmo the one time I looked, instead I found 8/5. Come on, only The Mirage also does 8/5 and I give it crap every time I can for it.

Also, just to clarify, MOST casinos are 9/6 in DBP. I can find it easily at MGM properties (sans Mirage), LVS properties, Caesars, Bellagio, Aria, etc. At least for now, 8/5 is a pretty infrequent swindle.

You have an equal chance of hitting a royal at any machine at any property, the only "house edge" factor is these paytables, in that they can reduce the size of the prizes so that you can't play long enough in order to get one. Given that 9/6 is pretty standard for now, I'd rather play it at Cosmo than Excalibur, if you know what I mean.

By the way, the independent value joint in town, Tropicana? 8/5. Boo.

Thanks to the nice people at vpfree2.com:
Bonus Poker 98.01%
Deuces Wild 44 97.58%
Double Bonus 98.14%
Double Double Bonus 97.87%
Jacks or Better 98.39%

As others have said, not fantastic, but not near as bad as many other places. Rather glad my favorite, good ol' Jacks or Better, has the best odds of all of 'em. I think these are some of the best odds you'll find for quarter machines on the Strip.

Interesting they put in quarter machines. I would have expected dollar minimums for a brand new high-end property.

Good, not great, paytables for the Strip. Fair enough. The Cosmo will get some of my quarters in January as I gaze upon the chandelirs and furniture, so will places like Main Street Station downtown and The Palms. Thanks Mr. Monster!

I'm shocked to see $.25 five-coin max-play bartops at Cosmo! Shocked!

At the very least, I would've expected a 10-coin max play, as that seems to be an up-and-coming trend. As it is, that's excellent. Twenny-five-cent bartops rule. I hope it sticks.

Combined with a very decent 9/6 Double Bonus pay table, and I'm impressed. I might have to get me one of those Identity cards...

@drake they're multi-denom machines.

I think the big interest will be for whether marginal play and how it results in offers, especially for those that might not make gold or platinum. Given the point earnings $5 for 1 point It's 100k through the machines at VP to achieve gold, which is about 2 1/2 times the amount of coin in to achieve Harrahs second level.

Again, that's only a small part of it, as factors such as ADT and trip spend are likely to be factored in as well, but it will be interesting to see what type of comp policies they star with and adjust too.
