VT reader Brian Fey just tipped us off that Cosmopolitan is officially sold out on December 15th.

You snooze, you lose!

Hopefully it's just "at capacity" instead of 100% booked.

I was hoping Chuckmonster would house me in his room, but no such luck. I guess the love only goes skin deep for some readers. Maybe I can rent a car and sleep in their garage?

I hope that it would be sold out on opening night. If it wasn't, that would be a bad sign, wouldn't it? Aside from the fact that it's a Wednesday in December, of course.

Well, this is the single slowest week in Las Vegas. That's one reason hotels open then, it gives them time to practice while its slow, because in just 2 weeks, it goes from the slowest week, to one of the busiest. And January is typically one of the busiest months of the year also.

I'm sure you could still find a room at City Center: The Gateway to Cosmopolitan.

What percentage of their rooms are they opening with? As I recall, Aria opened with only about 60% of their rooms.

I suspect that all the rooms may not be open and that there is a bit of posturing here as well which is normal for an opening. I have opened many restaurants and pubs and we always do whatever we have to to appear busy. But I'm glad the Aria haters have something else to jump on.

They have just under 3000 rooms and it's been said that they are only brining 2000 rooms online at this point (though all 3000 are completed).

Given that number and the slowness of a December weekday, I'd venture to guess that they actually have 1000-1500 booked and are capping it at that to ensure that they "get the opening right" from a service perspective. Add in all of the foot traffic from the Strip and the public spaces will definitely make the place feel a lot busier than they actually are.

At least that is what I would do to try and ensure as little negative info/reviews as is possible before the 12/31 grand opening when all eyes will truly be on them.

does anyone have info on the how absorbency of the the carpet in the elevators?

I don't want to have to ask that white rabbit if puke sticks to its fur
