Wynn La Cave Entry

VT superfriend and captain of the Team VT for the Vegas Marathon, Mr. CanadianCrapShooter, just got back from dinner on the opening night of La Cave at Wynn Las Vegas and filed this short report (and a ton of lip smacking photos.) Yums. Thank you CCS! Take it away....

The place is pretty nice, catering to a somewhat younger clientele. There are 4 separate areas; main entrance with bar and kitchen window seating flanking the left and right. Beyond that is a small "dining" room with yet another bar. To the right is a comfy lounge area with large glass doors that open onto the terrace.

The wine list has a nice selection of wines by the glass and some of fancy 2oz-at-a-time (Enomatic) wines. The food is really good but really small portions, nice for sharing. We had the Diver Sea Scallops (very, very good), the Stuffed Chicken (also very good but a little salty), the Angus Mini Burgers (really dry, easily my least favorite dish) and the Tomato, Mozza, Caper Flatbread (tasty, we ordered two).

Total $235 before tip. It's not cheap but is a great fit in the Wynn property.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some drinking and gambling to do.

Awesome... thank you CCS... here's the pics, captions are mine (Chuck)

Comments & Discussion:

Amazing how wishy-washy I am. Was prepared to hate La Cave based on renderings, but photos with the place packed with customers make it look much more inviting. Surprised by revolving doors. Expected entrance to be open to the hallway.

I know this is slightly off topic, but does the revolving door serve a purpose? Or is it just there for style? I can't say I've been in too many wine bars with a revolving door, let alone in Vegas.

Looking at the beer list, I'm impressed. Quite heavy on the Belgian and Belgian-style (Although whoever typed up the menu is a moron, as 2 Below is not from Belgium, the brewery is New Belgium, which in Ft. Collins, CO [huge fan of their brews].). Surprised to not see any Chimay one the beer list, but I do like Duvel.

I do think I will check this place out my next trip.

Nice to see Wynn clientele at the bar.

I'm with Detroit, while I'm not a design guy, there are things I like and things I don't and based on the empty spot photos, I thought the place looked rather plain and boring. However with the lighting and full, it definitely looks like a nice spot and some of the items look outstanding and in truth some of the tapas options look fairly well priced for a Wynn property.

Wait, how many people were dining? I'm trying to calculate the bill per person here.

There were 4 of us to start and 3 more joining us at the end of the meal (the three of them only had one round of drinks).

great pics of clientele, maybe wynn needs more of this kind of thing

dishes - 6
wine - 44oz / 1.5 bottles / 7 glasses
beer - 1

theoretically doesnt require many people
